What is the difference between Made-to-Measure, Made-to-Order, Bespoke, and other terms?

Made-to-measure (MTM) – a business practise when a product (or service) is made as per the measurements and other specifications of the customer, following some standardization in manufacturing process.

Custom-made – A product (fashion or non fashion) specially made for a particular client.

Ready-made – A product or service ready to be bought in its finished form for immediate use.

Ready-to-wear (RTW or Prêt-à-porter in French) – Clothing produced in standard sizes and specifications, and not meant to fit a particular person. These clothes are meant to be purchased off-the-rack and worn immediately after.

Bespoke clothing – Clothing that is handmade from start to finish for individuals per their unique specifications in highest quality of materials and craftsmanship. The term has been historically associated with men’s suits and tuxedos etc.

Haute couture – Same as bespoke clothing but traditionally associated with womenswear particularly dresses.

Made-to-order (MTO) – A business practice where a product is made after the order has been placed by the customer.

Pre-order – Refers to a practice when a customer places an order in advance before the product is made.

Smart factory – A production unit, often dubbed as the ‘factory of the future’, with intelligent machinery and agile systems capable of producing hundreds of different styles of products with greater efficiency.

You upload your patterns and measurements, our algorithm adjusts your pattern to guarantee a perfect fit, you select the fabric and accessories… et voila, your 3D view of a final product is ready

Do you offer a complete, end-to-end integration?

Backend order management and frontend 3D are linked to inventory of the fabric providers and internal systems of factories. So that when the order is placed you can simultaneously purchase desired fabric and send an automated techpack to the factory. Easy!

What is a techpack?

A comprehensive file containing technical descriptions and product characteristics required for a factory to successfully produce your garment.
